_meet-the-makers-introducing-new-video-series-on-yorkshire-craftspeople.webp "Some of Yorkshire’s most inspiring craftspeople are being profiled in a special series of short films and magazine features thanks to a pioneering new collaboration.<br/><br/>The Yorkshire Post and Hull-based video production company Nova Studios have produced a new series called Meet The Makers, shining a light on some of the region’s most remarkable craftspeople.<br/><br/>Nova has created a series of high-quality short films and profile features, which will run on The Yorkshire Post website and in its award-winning Saturday Magazine from May 18. The work is accompanied in print by pictures taken by The Yorkshire Post’s skilled photographers.<br/><br/>Those featured in the series include a jeweller, a potter, a bicycle maker and a fashion designer.<br/><br/>The collaboration has been almost a year in the making after Nova pitched the idea to Yorkshire Post editor James Mitchinson.<br/><br/>Matt Stephenson, director of Nova, said: “With two newspaper-trained journalists on the team, we loved bringing together our journalistic and editorial skills with everything we know about digital film-making.<br/><br/><br/>“The makers in the films we’ve produced really care about craft and tradition - and we’re very proud to be associated with them - their values reflect our own. There’s so much disposable product and content out there, it’s great to make films that are anything but disposable - we wanted to emphasise enduring quality, and to do that for the Yorkshire Post, a publication that is so embedded in the cultural life of our region.”<br/><br/>Catherine Scott, Yorkshire Post Magazine editor, said: “This has been an inspiring project to work on and we have been blown away by the quality of Nova’s work. The films they have produced are essentially The Yorkshire Post Magazine in video form - profiling the human stories of inspiring people from our area.<br/><br/>“We can’t wait for people to see the finished films and features over the coming weeks.”")

_birmingham-fans-clash-with-stewards-as-they-invade-pitch-after-disastrous-relegation-to-league-one.webp "BIRMINGHAM fans clashed with stewards after invading the pitch following their disastrous relegation to League One.<br/><br/>Brum picked up just their 13th win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Norwich on the final day of the Championship.<br/><br/>But they were banking on a slip-up from Plymouth Argyle to maintain their second-flight status.<br/><br/>And Birmingham’s plucky rivals secured a massive 1-0 win against Hull to stay up by one single point.<br/><br/>The St Andrew’s crowd exploded into boos as the final whistle went against Norwich, with Plymouth’s result confirming Birmingham's relegation.<br/><br/>And some supporters charged onto the field to express their rage in front of chairman Tom Wagner.<br/><br/>Fans chanted and yelled in anger as they clashed with stewards, with some being tumbled to the ground and pushed back to the stands.<br/><br/>The ugly scenes didn’t last too long as order was restored quickly.<br/><br/>But the sour atmosphere is sure to carry over into the new League One season, with Birmingham having been SIXTH in the Championship table earlier this term.<br/><br/>American financier Wagner, whose company Knighthead took over the club in July 2023 with backing from NFL legend Tom Brady, decided to sack John Eustace in October despite Brum’s fine form.<br/><br/>He then made Wayne Rooney the club’s new manager, with disastrous results to follow.<br/><br/>Wazza was axed in January after losing nine of his 15 games at the helm, with interim Steve Spooner overseeing one game.<br/><br/>Tony Mowbray then became boss but manager just eight games before taking a step back due to his health.<br/><br/>Brum turned to Mark Venus as their second interim boss of the campaign, yet he lost five of six games and was subsequently replaced by Gary Rowett.<br/><br/>The fan favorite, who previously managed Birmingham between October 2014 and December 2016, won two of his seven games while suffering just three defeats.<br/><br/>But the upturn in results was not enough to save Brum from the drop.")
