_nfl-draft-day-three-the-dallas-cowboys-picks.webp "The Dallas Cowboys had four picks on the final day of the 2024 NFL Draft:<br/><br/>Round 5 : No. 173 <br/><br/>Round 6 : No. 216<br/><br/>Round 7 : No. 233<br/><br/>Round 7 : No. 244 <br/><br/>Round five : Pick 173 – The Cowboys selected CB Caelen Carson out of Wake Forest. In 2023 Carson played in 11 games and finished with 42 tackles, 29 of them being solo tackles. He led the team with eight pass breakups. <br/><br/>We got to speak to Carson after the pick and he was asked what the Cowboys are getting, “Gritty player. Somebody that is gonna do whatever for the team, play special teams, play nickel, play outside, so you got versatility. And just a competitive dude. I’m competitive by nature. My personality might be quiet but on the field it’s a whole different personality.” Carson told the media.<br/><br/>When asked about playing alongside Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland, Carson stated, “Definitely. I’m ready to learn from those guys. Trevon Diggs, another Maryland guy, I’m from Maryland too so we have that connection right there. I’m just excited to really learn. They’ve got a lot of interceptions together. I’m excited to see how they do that type of stuff, learn from their game and just compete with them.”<br/><br/>Round six : Pick 216 – The Dallas Cowboys selected former SE Missouri State WR Ryan Flournoy. Out ofall the wide receivers, Flournoy produced the fastest GPS time during position drills at the 2024 combine. The WR who did so in 2023? Puka Nacua.<br/><br/>In 2022 Flournoy earned First-Team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors in his first year at Southeast Missouri. He started 11 games at wide receiver and led the team in receiving yards (984), receiving touchdowns (7) and receiving yards per game (89.5). <br/><br/>Round seven : Pick 233 – The Dallas Cowboys selected Nathan Thomas, OT, out of Louisiana. Thomas entered the draft as a redshirt junior, he anchored the left side of the line as a first-year starter at left tackle. Starting in all 13 games and finished with 25 knockdowns. He was also graded 80 percent or better in 11 of the 13 games. <br/><br/>Round seven : Pick 244 – The Dallas Cowboys selected Justin Rodgers the DT out of Auburn. Rogers is a big nose tackle prospect with the size and strength to occupy blockers and help clog up the middle. He has strong hands and can discard blocks quickly. He flashes the ability to push the pocket rushing the passer. He has 17 tackles and 1 sack in 2023, and made seven starts as a senior. <br/><br/>We spoke with GM and owner Jerry Jones after the draft along with head coach Mike McCarthy they told us that these were players that they needed and they are all great fits.")

_ufl-2024-updat3-arlington-renegades-hit-rock-bottom-falling-to-0-5-on-the-season-losing-to-san-antonio-brahmas-25-15.webp "Another slow start plagued the Renegades, moving them to 0-5 on the year with a loss to the San Antonio Brahmas, 25-15. This game started out like how most games start out for San Antonio, and that’s with points. Coming into gameday, the Brahmas were 1st in the league with 17 opening drive points this season, meanwhile, the Renegades failed to score on their opening drive and remain the only team to not have any opening drive points this season.<br/><br/>The game started off strong on the ground for the Brahmas, as they broke off two huge runs including a 36-yard gain on the first drive, which led to a field goal. San Antonio ended the quarter with 93 rushing yards, more than doubling their total from the previous week, 40.<br/><br/>The Renegades regained momentum later in the half when QB Luis Perez hit Javonta Payton over the top with a 54-yard strike right before halftime kept them in the game, making it a 6-pt game at the half. From there, the game became a slugfest, excitement coming to a screeching halt. Arlington failed to finish drives on the day, converting a dreadful 3 of 14 on 3rd downs. Settling for field goals was a huge theme however, on the bright side for the Renegades, that allowed new kicker Jonathan Garibay to impress, hitting 3 of 4 on his attempts.<br/><br/>The biggest play of the game came after the Brahmas broke the 15-15 tie early in the 4th with a goal line punch in from one yard out with John Lovett. The Renegades had the ball at their own 40-yard line and decided to go for it on 4th and 1 instead of punting it.<br/><br/>I got Arlington coach Bob Stoops’ insight on why he went for it, he stated, “If I had more confidence in our defensive stops, I might’ve said hey, let’s just punt it …but I didn’t.” San Antonio was 5 of 10 on 3rd & 4th downs, and that proved to be the difference in the game.<br/><br/>Despite the loss, QB Luis Perez sets another record, becoming the first QB in UFL history to eclipse over 1,000 yards passing. Saturday he went 26-36 for 270 yards and 1 TD, a consistent line with the ones he’s been putting up all season long. Javonta Payton continues his impressive season, as he surpasses 100 yards receiving for the 2nd time this season.<br/><br/>The Renegades travel up to Michigan to take on the Michigan Panthers next Sunday.
